A Personal Letter
May 19th, 2010
Dear Family, Friends, and Supporters:
I announced my candidacy nearly 10 months ago, and it has been an honor to have you stand with me in this race. With countless volunteers and over 200 individual contributors, we are today leading this race and we have stayed true to focusing our resources on the real issues facing Oakville and this great state of Missouri.
My mission from the beginning was to simply talk about the issues we all discuss around the kitchen table: protecting our jobs, affording healthcare, and providing a quality education for our students.
I vowed when entering this race that I would run a positive campaign - a campaign about people, not politics. I dedicated myself and urged my supporters towards an issue-focused election. As many of us know, politics can be a nasty business, but that is not what we wanted, nor is it best for Oakville.
In recent months the focus and attempts of my primary opponent supporters to change that message has been prominently against us. Anyone who has played any roll in this back-room barrage should be embarrassed by the amount of time and energy already wasted to create a political stench. They know better, and the people of Oakville deserve better.
To spare my family, friends, and supporters the financial expense to defend against an inventive and baseless negative onslaught, I have decided to withdraw my name for candidacy in the 100th District. I will not be the aggressor or the victim of a negative political campaign.
While no longer a candidate in the 100th District in 2010, I will continue to work for candidates I feel will remain focused on why they chose to serve. In that same vein, I urge each of you to remain involved in choosing your public servants. Please take the time to consider the person and not only the party when casting your vote in November. It's time that Oakville has effective leadership in our Capitol.
I would like to sincerely thank each and every one of my supporters. I especially appreciate those who endorsed my candidacy, and my campaign committee for their guidance and support. Most importantly, thanks to my family whose love and support has provided me with the confidence and the strength to run this race. It has been exciting and memorable. I will never forget what we accomplished.
I look forward to a future time when I will have the opportunity to represent and serve the state of Missouri.
God Bless.
Marty Zuniga
Marty Zuniga: Running in the 100th
Welcome!
Thank you for visiting my campaign website. Please feel free to visit often for updates on campaign announcements, endorsements, and events. With your help and support we will be successful in 2010!
As a committed resident and involved citizen of the 100th district, it’s my honor to run for public office and to give back to the community that has given me so much. Proudly raised on Oakville values, my fresh ideas, energy, and strong work ethic are vital skills needed to represent the citizens of Oakville. I will not be beholden to party politics, only to the people of my district and our state.
With your help, I will take the concerns our families discuss around the kitchen table to Jefferson City: our Jobs, the Economy, our Children’s Education, and Healthcare. I will focus on giving small business and working families the support they deserve. I will also work to ensure that students have the dollars available for a Quality Education – which is close to my heart.
Oakville deserves energetic and effective representation.
I ask you to join me, Marty Zuniga, in the fight to take our concerns to Jefferson City!
Thanks!
Marty
